He was eating the prime rib, vegetables, Mac and cheese, and BBQ. That's great and all, but my husband doesn't eat sea food. The manager kept cutting my husband off and telling him that he goes to the pier every morning to get fresh sea food.
Then he, the manager, turned around and made a scene. he even tried to say my husband was lying because we didn't make a scene. This manager decided to escalate things with a semi raised voice, until he was shown a picture of my husbands vomit in their bathroom. My husband just wanted to let the guy know that something made him sick, then pay our bill, so we could leave. Then told us we were there way too long and accused my husband of just over eating. The man pulled our receipt to figure out how long we had been there. My husband was in the bathroom vomiting when the bill came. He questioned the timing of my husband getting sick and accused him of claiming to be sick to get a lower bill. Because we didn't make a scene, the manager, possibly owner, refused to believe that it was their food. It didn't sit well, and caused him to get sick while we were there. My husband had an issue with some of the food. I ended up walking around with their website pulled up on my phone. The "gluten free" food is on shared bars with gluten food. Great experience! Great service! I wish I could remember the managers name, because he was exemplary! My only suggestion to them would be to make the simple change from using the tainted margarine over to a GF source! It would open up the menu even more and they would not have to cater quite as much to individuals! While it was a limited menu, if you are a seafood lover, there is plenty for you to get your money's worth!
There was GF chocolate pudding and rice pudding if you could muster a dessert! They offered to make a separate salad, but I asked for the steamed green beans and sauteed mushrooms, of which they brought HUGE gf servings right to my table! The manager also personally made a cocktail sauce gf for me as well! What was great about the experience was that he offered to make most of the single food items GF separately for me if I so desired! I love clams/muscles/crab/shrimp and was quite happy with just that. WAY too many items to list, but just about everything except the steamed items contained a margarine that was NOT GF. The manager went on to go through every table/item and explain what was GF and what was not. He immediately told me he would go over the menu/tables with me personally in order to make sure I knew what was safe and what was not! There was one other customer who over heard the conversation, and asked if she could join us.

My response was yes, over 25 years ago, and pre gluten free days. He asked if we had ever been there before. Within minutes of walking in (got there at opening time of 3pm) we were greeted by the manager. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all served at the restaurant, but reviewers rate the dinner menu the highest.I have to say, this was without a doubt, the single BEST dining experience I have had as a Celiac! Prices at Captain George's Seafood are moderate ? most diners plunk down about $30 per meal. Store your bike safely at one of the main bike racks near Captain George's Seafood.
